A five-step structured guide to turn knowledge into real, usable work with clarity and traction.

The Creator’s Map™ – 5‑Step Process

An approach for turning what you know into something usable.

A structured approach for turning what you already know into something real and usable.

  1. Find What’s Not Working Identify friction points, confusion or stalled progress. Look at what exists, where it breaks down, and clarify the real problem before trying to fix anything.
  2. Structure the Work Organize what you already have into a clear system. Define pathways, decision points and flow; remove unnecessary complexity and align with your goals.
  3. Build the Work Turn the structure into something usable—an immersive course, microlearning module, book, podcast, tool or system. Focus on clarity, gamified engagement and completion.
  4. Test in Real Use Apply the work in real environments. Observe what holds and what doesn’t. Collect data through learner analytics and feedback and adjust based on actual use—not assumptions.
  5. Refine and Scale Improve the system based on results. Simplify where needed, and expand using personalized learning paths, microlearning bursts and multimedia to maintain clarity while supporting growth.

Outcomes

  • Performance‑Based Measures: Use advanced analytics to gauge impact and ROI.
  • Competitor & Keyword Analysis: Identify market gaps and SEO opportunities to position your product effectively.
  • Microlearning Impact: Create bite‑sized, gamified learning experiences that reinforce knowledge and engagement.
  • Transformation Mindset Instructional Design (TMID): Embed growth‑mindset principles into every learning experience.
  • Custom & Immersive Learning Experiences: Incorporate VR/AR, simulations and personalized pathways to enhance retention.
  • Multimedia Course Design: Blend video, audio and interactive elements to suit diverse learning styles.
  • Data‑Informed Design: Refine and scale using real user data and feedback for continuous improvement.

Howell, PhD, also known as the Creative Pirate, the podcast blends instructional design, publishing, systems thinking, app testing, AI tools, creativity, storytelling, and real-world experimentation into practical conversations about building before everything feels perfect.

This is TMID Framework

TMID provides the foundation for this work. The Creator's Map builds from it, showing how ideas become courses, books, tools, and systems. This video introduces the connection and where to begin. The Transformative Mindset Instructional Design (TMID) provides the research and design foundation. The Creator's Map applies that foundation to real work, guiding how ideas are structured, built, tested, and refined over time. Read more about TMID.

The Creator’s Map is a structured approach for turning what you already know into something usable. It starts by identifying what is not working and where circling an idea is slowing progress. From there, the work is organized into a clear system, built into something usable, and tested in real environments. Based on how it performs in practice, the system is refined and expanded over tim
