A five-step structured guide to turn knowledge into real, usable work with clarity and traction.

The Creator’s Map using the TMID Framework

An approach for turning what you know into something usable.

The Creator’s Map is a structured approach for turning what you already know into something real and usable. It starts by identifying what is not working and where friction is slowing progress. From there, the work is organized into a clear system, built into something usable, and tested in real environments. Based on how it performs in practice, the system is refined and expanded over time, maintaining clarity while supporting growth and continued use.

How TMID fits in

The Transformative Mindset Instructional Design (TMID) provides the research and design foundation. The Howell Method applies that foundation to real work, guiding how ideas are structured, built, tested, and refined over time. Read more about TMID.

The Creator’s Map- Official Podcast

The Creator’s Map Podcast explores how real-life experience becomes something you can actually use. Each episode shares practical ways to take what you already know and turn it into courses, books, tools, and systems that work. Through honest conversations, real examples, and behind-the-scenes thinking, you’ll hear how ideas move from your head into something structured, usable, and real. Hosted by Sonja L. Howell, PhD, this podcast is grounded in Transformative Mindset Instructional Design (TMID) and focuses on clarity, alignment, and building systems that hold up in real-world use. Listen below and follow along as The Howell Method comes to life.

Start Here: The TMID Framework

TMID provides the foundation for this work. The Howell Method builds from it, showing how ideas become courses, books, tools, and systems. This video introduces the connection and where to begin.

This is The Creator’s Map

This is how I take what’s in my head and turn it into something people can actually use. If you’ve been sitting on ideas and waiting for the right time, this is where you stop waiting.  Just publish the thing.

From Idea to Workbook: Share Your Shine

This example shows how a concept can be shaped into something structured, usable, and ready to share. The Share Your Shine workbook reflects how ideas can take form through thoughtful design, creating a resource that supports reflection, growth, and real-world use.

On Air with JTV

This work extends into real environments where ideas are developed, organized, and carried through to completion. Experiences like TEDx reflect how structure, coordination, and design come together in ways that support both the people involved and the outcomes being created. This event was hosted by Jackson College and is shared here as an example of my work within that setting, including planning, coordination, and experience design.

In Practice with WLEN

In this interview, Dr. Sonja L. Howell shares the thinking behind Feel It: Wake Up From the Lull, describing how the work developed through lived experience and reflection. She discusses the concept of the lull and how emotional numbness can take shape, offering insight into how that experience is understood and worked through.

Where It Began

This moment reflects the early work that set everything in motion. The focus began with a parenting instruction program in 2016, a wonderful ribbon cutting ceremony in 2017, the evolution of TMID in 2022, and continued to grow into broader support for others. Over time, that work expanded in direction and reach, shaping the foundation for what is now shared across different projects and formats.
